Joint Action HEROES policy dialogue

The EU4Health Joint Action HEROES is organising a high‑level policy dialogue. The event will bring together EU institutions, EU countries and key stakeholders to discuss how health workforce development can drive health system transition and sustainability in times of workforce crisis.

The dialogue aims to set a strategic orientation for strengthening health workforce development as a foundation for sustainable health systems. It will explore how the EU, EU countries and stakeholders can collaborate to address workforce challenges, explore the lessons learned from national implementation, and discuss how to sustain and scale JA HEROES’ results to support resilience and reform.

The discussion will focus on three key themes:

• Planning for transformation: How workforce planning and forecasting can support innovative models of care and align skills with system reforms.
• Country use and implementation: Sharing experiences from countries already integrating tools and data into policy to accelerate uptake.
• Sustaining HEROES results: Ensuring that the knowledge and tools developed under HEROES are embedded in national and EU‑level frameworks for long‑term resilience.
