Digital Assembly 2023 - HaDEA’s management participation on the Digital Europe Programme

Digital Assembly 2023

The Digital Assembly 2023 conference, co-organised by the Swedish Presidency and the European Commission, kicks off today at the Scandinavian XPO in Stockholm Arlanda.

It convenes representatives from the European Commission, Executive Agencies, as well as experts from the public sector, academia, industry, and civil society, to discuss the possibilities to achieve a “digital, open and secure Europe”, the main theme of this year.

This year’s edition will also feature representatives of HaDEA. On 15 June between 10.30 and 12.00, HaDEA’s Head of unit, Anna Katrami, will participate in the third breakout session Digital Europe Programme: funding and calls.

She will present the main features, topics and specificities of the Digital Europe Programme, and the calls managed by HaDEA, and how it is supporting the deployment of the digital technologies across Europe.

Furthermore, there will be deep dives into the practical information regarding the programme that potential applicants would need to know (currently open calls, best practice and deadlines).

Anna Katrami is joined by Daniela Rosati, Head of Sector of the B2 Unit. Questions related to the EU added value, synergies between funding opportunities, including cybersecurity, will be addressed too.

Background

For the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, it is key to reiterate the objective, for the European Union, to be at the forefront of technology and develop a competitive digital single market based on a strong focus on cyber security during the Digital Decade. Europe must be able to combine openness, competition and continued digitalisation with a heightened awareness of cyber security, despite the current complex geopolitical situation.

The Digital Europe Programme aims to build the strategic digital capacities of the EU and to facilitate the wide deployment of digital technologies. With an overall budget of €7.5 billion, out of which €0.8 billion is managed by HaDEA, the programme will support investments in the following sectors:

  • High Performance Computing
  • Cloud, data and Artificial Intelligence
  • Cybersecurity
  • Advanced digital skills
  • Accelerating best use of technologies

Horizon 2020 was the EU’s multiannual funding programme between 2014 and 2020. H2020 provided Research and Innovation (R&I) funding for multi-national collaboration projects alongside individual researchers and SMEs via special funding instruments. Horizon 2020 was continued by the Horizon Europe Programme, which will run until 2027.
