EuroNanoForum 2023, taking place in Lund, Sweden, 11-13 June, will bring together industry leaders, academics, policymakers and stakeholders. This event serves as a platform for strategic discussions, innovation and collaboration in the fields of nanotechnology and advanced materials, while focusing on sustainable manufacturing, circular economy and renewable energy.
One of the highlights of this year’s conference is the presence of Marina Zanchi, the Director of HaDEA, as a distinguished speaker. Her speech is scheduled for 9:00 on Tuesday 13 June.
HaDEA’s representatives will also be available at a booth, and will offer attendees an opportunity to interact directly and learn more about HaDEA and the European Commission’s objectives regarding Research & Innovation projects, policies, and funding opportunities in the advanced materials domain.
Some EU-funded projects managed by HaDEA will be present, allowing participants to witness first-hand the innovative solutions and sustainability-focused projects progressing in advanced materials. ASINA’s primary objectives is to accelerate the adoption of nanotechnology in industries by providing Safe-by-Design (SbD) solutions and supporting tools, to raise awareness among entrepreneurs about the potential of SbD and to enhance confidence in SbD nanomanufacturing by fostering collaboration among different stakeholders.
SbD4Nano focuses on addressing the challenge of developing safe and functional engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) and nano-enabled products (NEPs) in the nanotechnology sector. It aims to establish a novel e-infrastructure equipped with tools for generating SbD solutions based on regulatory and product performance-oriented approaches, which promotes the adoption of safer innovations at the industry level.
SABYDOMA is developing an innovative methodology that tackles the SbD challenge as a control system problem. The proposed technological solution involves coupling screening with the design process, allowing feedback from production screening to modify the design of nanomaterials.
SAbyNA is developing a web-based guidance platform that integrates existing databases, test methods, models, frameworks and tools to make them more user-friendly and interactive. The goal is to create optimal workflows for the development of SbD nanomaterials and nano-enabled products, with decision trees that identify suitable strategies for workers, consumers, and the environment.
DIAGONAL is ensuring long-term nanosafety for multicomponent nanomaterials and High Aspect Ratio Nanoparticles by analysing their physicochemical properties, toxicology, behaviour and environmental exposure along their life cycle. The project is developing multi-scale modelling tools, standardising risk management and approaching the re-design of nanomaterials and nano-enabled products.
HARMLESS is developing a new decision tool to support the design and safety assessment of complex multi-component, hybrid nanomaterials and nanoparticles. A user-friendly tool will be delivered that employs machine/deep learning algorithms to facilitate intelligent selection of methods/models and integration of model outputs and knowledge for evaluating the risks of new materials.
SUNSHINE is creating simple, robust and cost-effective Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) strategies for materials and products that contain advanced multi-component nanomaterials. The purpose is to modify products and processes involving nanomaterials to minimise potential release or hazards, developing technologies that are both safe and sustainable.
