European Mental Health Week: discover three EU-funded projects that are contributing to improving the mental wellbeing of European citizens

mental health

According to the Flash Eurobarometer on mental health, in 2023 46% of EU citizens have encountered an emotional or psychosocial problem in the last 12 months.

On the occasion of the European Mental Health Week, discover how three EU-funded research projects are contributing to improving the mental wellbeing of Europeans:

  • The Horizon 2020 IMMERSE project focuses on patient-centredness and quality of care of people with mental health issues. The Digital Mobile Mental Health tool is a monitoring solution that has been developed to support practitioners in helping their patients gain greater insights about their own mental health. The tool has already been deployed in Belgium, Germany, Scotland and Slovakia. After identifying the barriers and facilitators for scaling up, the project will contribute to the transfer of the researched intervention across Europe and worldwide.
  • The DynaMORE project is a Horizon 2020 project aimed at improving prevention and facilitating quick recovery from stress-related mental health issues. To find new ways to combat stress-related disorders, the project has designed the first in-silico model1 of stress resilience, which will serve as a basis for developing the new mobile Health (mHealth) app to boost specific resilience factors. The project will also carry out multicentre studies at five different sites in the EU and in Israel, including an observational study and an interventional study that will use the mHealth tool.
  • The Horizon Europe R2D2-MH project  is working on identifying risk and resilience factors associated with neurodevelopmental diversity, including autism, ADHD or intellectual disability. The project is drawing on expertise from various disciplines and leveraging insights from international and European clinical studies to better understand risks and resilience factors in the diverse life trajectories of neurodivergent people. The latter are also involved in the project, facilitating the uptake of the project’s results and outcomes by end-users and helping combat stigma surrounding neurodiversity and mental health.
