Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan paves the way for cancer prevention

EU4Health cancer prevention projects

Statistics show that without decisive action, cancer cases in the EU are set to increase by 24% by 2035. As a response to this alarming situation and given the growing challenges and developments in cancer control, the European Commission has come up with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, a committed EU response proposal to win the race against cancer.

Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan will allow to increase the number of screenings, covering more target groups and more cancers. The European Commission is supporting EU countries to ensure that 90% of the EU population who qualify for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings are offered such screening by 2025 and launched a dedicated cancer screening campaign.

HaDEA manages a wide range of projects tackling cancer prevention. As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month continues, have a look at EU4Health projects active in the field:

EU4Health is the fourth and largest of the EU health programmes. The programme provides funding to national authorities, health organisations and other bodies through grants and public procurement, contributing to a healthier Europe.

HaDEA manages the vast majority of the total EU4Health budget and implements the programme by managing calls for proposals and tenders from 2021 to 2027.
