FRAME Workshop on 20 June 2023 - meet HaDEA-managed projects participating in the event

The 3rd workshop on Flexible Resource and Application Management on the Edge is being held on 20 June in Florida, as part of the International Symposium on High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing (HPDC 2023) and the Federated Computing Research Conference (FCRC 2023).

Cloud and edge computing experts from academia and industry will gather to identify new challenges, discuss novel systems, methods and approaches for the management of resources in cloud-edge infrastructures.

Three H2020 projects managed by HaDEA will display their deliverables, share results, and exchange best practices, with the purposes of finding synergies, suggesting recommendations, and building new collaborations.

The projects

CHARITY aspires to leverage the benefits of intelligent, autonomous orchestration of cloud, edge, and network resources to counter the obstacles that impact the user experiences. It aims at delivering a superior quality of experience to multiple classes of XR services, through an end-to-end optimised lifecycle management platform, and a facilitating environment for XR developers to build up their services. A final prototype will be available in Spring 2024.

Session 2 “DATA7: A Dataset for Assessing Resource and Application Management Solutions at the Edge” from 16.10 to 17.00 CEST.

ACCORDION established a practical approach in connecting edge resources and infrastructures to support next-generation applications. The project builds on the idea that by associating edge computing with advanced technologies such as 5G, the EU will be able to capitalise on its own resources and infrastructure and bring benefits to its SMEs.

Session 4:Innovation Potential of the ACCORDION Platform from 20.00 to 20:25 CEST.

TEACHING is designing a computing platform that entails the deployment of autonomous, adaptive, and dependable Cyber-Physical System of Systems (information processing). The project achievements are in the final stage and being tested in an automotive and an avionic industrial use case. These examples are highly relevant for the European societal and industrial ecosystem.

Session 4: “A computing Toolkit for building Efficient Autonomous appliCations leveraging Humanistic INtelliGence” from 20.30 to 21:00 CEST.

Background

Horizon 2020 was the EU’s multiannual funding programme between 2014 and 2020. H2020 provided Research and Innovation (R&I) funding for multi-national collaboration projects alongside individual researchers and SMEs via special funding instruments. Horizon 2020 was continued by the Horizon Europe Programme, which will run until 2027.
