
Three new contracts, signed by HaDEA under the EU4Health programme, will support the actions of the European Commission's Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (DG HERA) to respond to ongoing virus outbreaks:
Supply of RT-PCR diagnostic kits to respond to the Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak
This contract will procure and supply RT-PCR laboratory kits to scale up testing capacity and strengthen diagnostic and surveillance capacities in response to the ongoing outbreak of Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease (BDBV) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
Supply of point of care diagnostic to respond to the Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak
This contract will ensure access to diagnostic devices and kits used to detect and diagnose the Bundibugyo virus. In particular, it will provide an estimated 40 diagnostic devices and 4 380 kits by a direct contract for the supply and delivery to the African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (AfCDC) in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Supply of antiviral to respond to the Andes Hantavirus outbreak
This contract will provide the EU with access to favipiravir (200mg tablets) by a direct contract for the supply and delivery to EU member states and associated countries. Favipiravir is an antiviral that has shown potential activity against the Andes virus.
