Health Technology Assessment: new opportunity to apply for Joint Scientific Consultations

On 3 June, the Commission has opened the third request period for joint scientific consultations (JSCs) for 2026. 

JSCs enable health technology developers to consult on the planning of their health technology and how clinical studies should be conducted to best prepare for a subsequent Joint Clinical Assessment. A health technology developer can request JSCs for products that are likely to be subject of joint clinical assessment pursuant to Article 7(1) of the HTA regulation.

The request submission period is open from 3 June to 1 July 2026 to developers of both medicinal product and medical devices (for medical devices classified as class IIb or III and in vitro diagnostics classified as class D).

Developers can apply for the following consultation slots during the request period:

Requests must be uploaded to the HTA IT Platform by 1 July 2026. As access to the platform can take a few days, early registration is recommended. Check the dedicated webpage on how to submit a request.
