Horizon projects focusing on personalised and data-driven healthcare solutions to improve mental and brain health

On World Mental Health Day, we spotlight some examples of EU-funded health research projects that aim at improving mental and brain health through personalised and data-driven approaches.

IMMERSE (Horizon 2020) focuses on transforming mental health care in Europe to make it more person-centered. It does so through the use of digital tools and the Experience Sampling Methodology (ESM), which puts the service user at the heart of treatments. The project has embedded ESM into an innovative, clinical digital mental health tool (DMMH - Digital Mobile Mental Health) that is being tested in eight sites in four EU countries. IMMERSE will further scale up this innovative tool based on personalised treatment in routine clinical healthcare.

XR2ESILIENCE (Horizon Europe) aims to enhance personal resilience of nursing staff by using immersive Extended Reality (XR) applications to provide tailored training adapted to individual needs. The project is studying key resilience factors and barriers to acceptance, in order to assess the effectiveness of XR training and provide recommendations for supportive environment in healthcare, particularly for nursing professionals.

MES‑CoBraD (Horizon 2020) has developed a multidisciplinary data platform to enable rapid, accurate and personalised diagnosis and management of complex brain disorders, including epilepsy, dementia and sleep disorders. The platform features advanced tools for data storage and analysis, offering statistical and AI-driven analytics modules that allow a continuous cycle of data-driven research and evidence-based practice, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
