National Focal Points (NFPs) are key contacts for information and support related to the EU4Health programme in the EU and associated countries.

To support their work, the new Joint Action NFP4Health2 recently kicked off on 17 December. This is a follow-up to the previous Joint Action on increasing the capacity of National Focal Points (NFP4Health). Having built a solid network of NFPs, this Joint Action has reinforced the presence and capacities of NFPs in all participating countries and ensured complementarity with other regional, national and EU policies, funds and programmes.

To provide high quality services to potential applicants and project participants, NFPs need to have a common knowledge of the rules and procedures of the EU4Health programme and other available funding opportunities. The new Joint Action NFP4Health2 will make sure that such knowledge is equally available across the EU and associated countries. It will provide expert support, promote synergies with national health initiatives and create coherency in the implementation of the EU4Health programme across EU countries.

The project will deliver comprehensive peer-to-peer training that encompasses recent changes in EU health policies and funding frameworks, ensuring that NFPs are well-prepared to assist national applicants in navigating these processes.

A key component of the project will be the creation of a NFP Knowledge Hub, a centralised repository of information, tools and resources tailored to NFPs. This knowledge hub will provide access to training materials, guidelines and best practices, serving as a one-stop shop for all NFPs.

Background

EU4Health is the fourth and largest of the EU health programmes. The EU4Health programme goes beyond an ambitious response to the COVID-19 crisis to address the resilience of European healthcare systems. The programme provides funding to national authorities, health organisations and other bodies through grants and public procurement, contributing to a healthier Europe. HaDEA manages the vast majority of the total EU4Health budget and implements the programme by managing calls for proposals and calls for tenders from 2021 to 2027.

This Joint Action receives funding under the EU4Health 2024 Annual Work Programme.
