Discover H2020 projects VEDLIoT and Vitamin-V, managed by HaDEA.

The International Conference on Field-Programmable Logic and Applications 2023 starts today! H2020 projects VitaminVProject and #VEDLIoT will present their objectives & deliverables at the conference

The 33rd International Conference on Field-Programmable Logic and Applications (FPL) is held in Gothenburg, Sweden from 4 to 8 September, covering the rapidly growing area of field-programmable logic and reconfigurable computing.

Two Horizon 2020 projects managed by HaDEA will present their objectives and deliverables at the conference:

  • VEDLIoT: René Griessl will represent the project at the Research Projects Event on 6 September from 9.40 to 10.40 alongside other EU-funded projects.
  • Vitamin-V: Dr. Angelos Arelakis will present a special session on “Dynamic Memory Expansion with Hardware-Accelerated Compression” on 6 September from 11.10 to 12.30.

The projects

  • VEDLIoT is developing an internet of things platform that uses deep learning algorithms distributed throughout the IoT continuum. The new platform with innovative IoT architecture is expected to bring significant benefits to industrial robots, self-driving cars, and smart homes.
  • Vitamin-V is deploying a complete RISC-V hardware-software stack for cloud services based on innovative cloud open-source technologies for RISC-V cores with a special focus on European Processor Initiative cores. It incorporates an innovative RISC-V virtual execution environment providing hardware emulation and simulation.

Background

Horizon 2020 was the EU’s multiannual funding programme between 2014 and 2020. H2020 provided Research and Innovation (R&I) funding for multi-national collaboration projects alongside individual researchers and SMEs via special funding instruments. Horizon 2020 was continued by the Horizon Europe Programme, which will run until 2027.
