The Annual European Data Protection & Privacy Conference in Brussels, at the Thon EU Hotel on 5 December, highlights the next trends and priorities in ensuring individual’s trust in digital technologies. It takes place a month before the European Data Protection Day and five years after the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Conference attendees will look forward into the future of privacy innovation, global data privacy and privacy in the AI era.
Successful projects
HaDEA has managed several Horizon 2020 projects with the common objective of ensuring data protection to European citizens over different areas. Here are some of them:
- SHAPES developed a large-scale, EU-standardised, open platform to facilitate a healthy and active ageing, and a high-quality standard of life. SHAPES identifies the needs of individual EU citizens and provides personalised solutions that protect their data and uphold their trust.
- GATEKEEPER worked to ensure healthy, independent living for the ageing populations. It established a collaborative framework connecting healthcare providers, entrepreneurs, the elderly and their communities. The project organised its final event yesterday 28 November in Madrid on ‘Open Innovation for Digital Healthcare'.
- FogProtect developed advanced designs, technologies and methods to secure end-to-end data protection along the computing continuum. It integrates technological innovations into appropriate solutions for data protection in smart cities, industries, and media.
- RAINBOW has designed and developed an open, secure fog computing platform, advancing the management of extensible, diverse, and safe Internet of Things services and cross-cloud applications. By supplying the development, composition, data, and network management to reach secure end applications, RAINBOW will enable fog computing to reach its true potential.
Background
Horizon 2020 was the EU’s multiannual funding programme between 2014 and 2020. H2020 provided Research and Innovation (R&I) funding for multi-national collaboration projects alongside individual researchers and SMEs. Horizon 2020 is the predecessor programme to the Horizon Europe Programme, the EU’s key funding programme for R&I which will run until 2027.
