European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM): Connecting Europe Facility projects promote cybersecurity and help EU citizens to become cyber savvy

cybersecurity month

October is the European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM). Celebrated every year, ECSM aims at raising awareness on cybersecurity among EU citizens and organisations and at promoting safe use of online tools.

Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) has been supporting the creation of a secure digital ecosystem in the EU by financing:

  • Safer Internet Centres that provide access to child-safety related content and services,
  • The increase in capabilities and cooperation of key cybersecurity actors such as critical infrastructures, computer emergency response teams and bodies in charge of cybersecurity certification
  • The improvement of digital skills with dedicated master programmes.

HADEA supports the ECSM by showcasing CEF-funded projects that share tips and guidance on first aid if one falls victim of a cyber-attack and on how to be cyber-secure at home. Every week, a selection of EU-funded projects promoting cybersecurity and safety online will be presented. This week’s focus - Phishing/ Safety online/ Digital Skills:

  • The Croatian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT.hr) is raising public awareness on cybersecurity by presenting tips on cyber hygiene, pop-up and cookies, good password generator, memory games, netiquette and digital footprint.
  • Health services personnel in the universities of Porto and Aveiro will learn how to deal with and to react to external threats, such as phishing emails, misleading websites, malware run, etc., by getting trained on how to use their computers, smartphones and other digital devices safely.
  • The “Master program on AI for public services (AI4Gov)” aims at designing and delivering a master’s programme to cover: (i) the management of AI-based public services, (ii) the usage of AI in public administration’s operation, and (iii) the governance of AI for the public sector and public services delivery in society. The overall expected outcome is the education of functional specialists in both AI and public services with a particular focus on governance of AI and ethics for public services.
  • The European Platform for Digital Skills and Jobs brings together 22 Member States and national coalitions and networks of actors in EU to share their digital skills and jobs related activities and content in order to reduce digital skill gap in all Europe. Citizens will be able to search for and access European resources from participating Member States, resources that are relevant to the local context.
