The ‘Innovation in Space Award’ and ‘Sustainability in Space Award’ celebrate European projects and organisations at the forefront of innovation and sustainable developments within the space and space technology sectors.
The winners of the awards were selected by a panel of expert judges and the event’s audience. Nominees were judged on their innovation, their impact on the space sector and broader society, their long-term feasibility and scalability.
The Hi-SIDE project won the ‘Innovation in Space Award 2022’:
The project set out to develop and demonstrate new high speed satellite data chain technology that can capture, process, store and transmit data at speeds exceeding 10 Gbit/s. It designed and manufactured new satellite subsystems, integrated them and demonstrated their performance in a series of scenarios.
The award recognised the contribution of Hi-SIDE to the advancement of on-board data handling and high-speed data transfer for future Earth Observation missions.
