HaDEA has published the second volume of “An insight into successful raw materials projects”. This publication presents eight Horizon 2020 projects that address a number of significant challenges along the raw materials value chain (exploration, extraction, processing and recycling), highlighting their results and benefits for the EU. The competitiveness of the European industry depends on the availability of raw materials, which are also essential for the twin green and digital transition.
In the context of the newly proposed EU Critical Materials Act, this publication showcases visible progress in the field of raw materials brought by EU-funded R&I, emphasising the relevance of innovative technologies in ensuring a sustainable and efficient supply.
Background
The Commission proposal for a EU Critical Raw Materials Act, published on 14 March 2023, seeks to ensure an adequate and diversified supply for Europe’s digital economy as well as for the green transition – and prioritise re-use and recycling.
