The 3rd Health Programme ran from 2014 to 2020 and had a budget of € 449.4 million. It underpinned EU policy coordination in the area of health in order to complement, support and add value to the national policies of Member States in full respect of the responsibilities of the Member States for the definition of their health policies and the organisation and delivery of health services and medical care.
The 3rd Health Programme was followed by the EU4Health Programme. This is currently the largest health programme in monetary terms. The EU4Health programme is a key pillar to the Commission’s work to strengthen the European Health Union.
