The programme and its calls represent an ambitious response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but go beyond crisis response to address the resilience of European healthcare systems and contribute to a healthier Europe.

On 1 April 2026, the Commission has opened the second request period for joint scientific consultations (JSCs) for 2026. The submission period is open from 1 to 29 April 2026 to developers of both medicinal products and medical devices.

HaDEA is actively contributing to the European AI revolution by funding and managing hundreds of AI-related projects that either develop or apply AI tools. These projects range widely, from applying AI to improve healthcare diagnostics to enhancing earth observation capabilities.

With EU4Health funding in the form of 9 direct grants, 22 EU countries and Norway are setting up a coordinated surveillance system, under a OH approach, for cross-border (zoonotic) pathogens that threaten the EU. This action will strengthen the anticipation of and response to possible health risks.
